🔥 MEMBERS EXTRA – AUGUST
Rum Bullion Trinidad 2009 – The Heavy‑Hitter You Do Not Want to Miss
“Only 1083 bottles worldwide!”
Tribe… your Members Extra this month is a proper unicorn. A rum with pedigree, scarcity, swagger – and a flavour profile that’ll make seasoned collectors blink twice.
This is Rum Bullion Trinidad 2009 (13yo) – a tiny‑batch, tropical‑aged stunner from Trinidad Distillers Limited (the home of Angostura). Only 1083 bottles exist on the entire planet, and we’ve secured a slice of that microscopic allocation for the Tribe.
“An exquisite and complex nose with fresh cherries, vanilla, caramel and fresh‑roasted coffee beans…”
This isn’t just a bonus bottle. It’s a bragging right. A flex. A “you had to be there” moment.
And if you miss it… you’ll feel that sting.
🌋 WHY THIS DROP IS A MUST‑GRAB
- Ultra‑limited allocation – 1083 bottles worldwide. When it’s gone, it’s gone forever.
- 13 years of tropical ageing – concentrated flavour, silky texture, and that unmistakable Trinidad cleanliness.
- Non‑chill filtered – nothing stripped, everything delicious.
- Very low sugar – rated 2/10 on sucrosité (~5g/L). Pure, honest rum character.
- TDL pedigree – same distillery behind Angostura, but this is a whole different beast.
- Jean Boyer craftsmanship – tiny batches, high standards, serious rum nerd credibility.
The Rum Bullion Trinidad 2009 is a molasses-based rum, column-distilled by Trinidad Distillers Limited (TDL) – the same distillery that produces Angostura Rum. The four-column distillation gives TDL control, but they’re not stripping the rum completely clean. There’s still plenty of congeners and esters coming through to give this rum some ‘flavour-OOOMPH!. Matured for 13 years (2009-2022) in an un-stated cask type (I’d assume ex-bourbon) before being bottled at 42.2%abv.
This is the kind of Members Extra bottle that becomes folklore.
🍒 THE FLAVOUR HIT (AND WHY YOU’LL FALL HARD FOR IT)
“Opens with pastry notes, vanilla cream, and caramelised fruit…”
Nose: Fresh cherries, caramel, roasted coffee beans, orchard fruits, warm nuts – with that signature TDL “smaltato” gloss adding intrigue. Palate: Vanilla cream, pastry, caramelised fruit, cocoa husk, gentle herbal warmth. Finish: Long, layered, citrus peel, bitter almond, fresh fruit brightness, warm oak.
It’s elegant. It’s complex. It’s grown‑up rum. A bottle that rewards slow sipping and smug grinning.
🏴☠️ THE STORY THAT MAKES IT EVEN BETTER
Rum Bullion is all about authenticity, tiny batches, and regional character. “Produced in small batches of fewer than five casks… Each rum reflects its local character.”
This 2009 Trinidad release is a perfect example – molasses‑based, column‑distilled, matured for 13 years, bottled with precision. No shortcuts. No gimmicks. Just pure Trinidad rum.
It’s the kind of bottle collectors chase… and the kind of bottle Members Extra exists for.
🎯 WHO THIS IS FOR
- Members who love rare rum
- Members who love Trinidad profiles
- Members who want a bottle that no one else can get
- Members who want something special to open, or special to keep sealed
- Members who know that 13 years tropical beats 20 years continental every time
If that’s you – this is your moment.
⚠️ REAL TALK: THIS WILL SELL OUT
We’ve seen it time and time again – the Members Extra allocation disappears, and the messages roll in:
“Any chance of a spare bottle?” “Did someone cancel?” “Can I buy someone’s?”
Not this time. Not with a 1083‑bottle global release.
If you want it… grab it now.

Our Tasting Notes
Nose: An exquisite and complex nose with fresh cherries, vanilla, caramel and fresh-roasted coffee beans alongside cooked orchard fruits and warm nuts. A subtle floral lift and a thread of fresh spice add definition. There’s also that classic TDL cleanliness – a faint smaltato (an Italian term meaning “enamelled”, used to describe a slightly varnishy, glossy, solvent tinged aroma often found in certain rums and brandies.) edge that never dominates, but adds complexity.
Palate: Opens with pastry notes, vanilla cream, and caramelised fruit, then moves into deeper territory: light nuances of smaltato again, gentle herbal warmth, and a touch of cocoa husk. The long tropical ageing shows in the texture – silky, balanced, and unsurprisingly dry, with the column still precision keeping everything tight and focused.
Finish: Long and layered. Bitter almonds, orgeat, citrus peel, and lingering fresh fruit brightness carry through, gradually softening into vanilla and warm oak. A clean, elegant fade that feels unmistakably Trinidad – crisp, aromatic, and persistent.
