Burdekin First Giru Distillers Edition

🌊 RUM TRIBE EXCLUSIVE: YOUR PASSPORT ACROSS THE PACIFIC

Compagnie des Indes Pacifico 6YO

Panama × Thailand | 42.5% ABV

Tribe, every now and then a rum lands on our tasting table that makes us stop mid-sip and say, “well that’s different.”

This month’s release isn’t from a famous distillery. It’s not a mass-market label you’ll find stacked on shelves. Instead, it’s exactly the kind of bottle Rum Tribe was created to discover: an independently bottled rum that takes you somewhere unexpected.

Meet Compagnie des Indes Pacifico. A rum that connects two rum-producing nations on opposite sides of the Pacific Ocean and brings them together in one ridiculously drinkable bottle. And better yet? It’s exclusive to Rum Tribe in Australia.

✈️ NOT JUST A RUM. A RUM ADVENTURE.

Most brands want you to experience their distillery. Compagnie des Indes wants you to experience the entire rum world.

Founded by rum enthusiast Florent Beuchet, CDI built its reputation hunting down remarkable rums from countries many drinkers have never explored, then bottling them for adventurous rum lovers. Think of it as the rum equivalent of an independent whisky bottler. Every release is a chance to discover something new.

And Pacifico might just be their most intriguing journey yet.

A blend of approximately 70% Panamanian 6-year-old rum and 30% Thai 12-year-old rum, matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled without chill-filtration, this is a bottle that simply shouldn’t work this well… but somehow absolutely does.

🔥 WHY MEMBERS WILL LOVE THIS ONE

🇦🇺 Exclusive to Rum Tribe

You won’t be hunting this bottle around Australia. Rum Tribe is the exclusive Australian home for Pacifico.

🌏 Two Countries. One Bottle.

Panama and Thailand aren’t regions you’d normally see blended together. The result is a flavour profile that’s familiar enough to be comforting yet unique enough to keep you coming back for another sip.

✅ Transparency Matters

CDI openly states a sugar dosage of 15g/L, giving members the information they need rather than hiding it behind marketing spin.

Compagnie des Indes Pacifico

👃 WHAT’S IN THE GLASS?

The nose is pure fun.

Think lolly shop nostalgia: jubes, liquorice allsorts, Werther’s Originals, candied citrus and floral jasmine notes all jostling for attention.

Take a sip and things get deeper.

Fruit cake, dark chocolate, aniseed and buttery richness arrive in waves, creating a lush, satisfying palate that never becomes overly sweet.

Then comes the finish.

Salted caramel, dark espresso, liquorice and a subtle salty-plum note that seems to linger just long enough to convince you another pour is required.

🧊 BRAD’S VERDICT?

This is easy-going sipping rum at its finest.

The kind of bottle that shines neat, gets even better over a large cube of ice, and apparently makes a dangerously good Rum & Coke. The combination of mature Panamanian and Thai rum creates something approachable, interesting, and incredibly moreish.

⚠️ IN SUMMARY

The best Rum Tribe releases are often the ones members weren’t expecting. The obscure bottle. The rum from an unfamiliar region. The one that quietly arrives and then suddenly everyone is talking about it. Pacifico has all the ingredients to be that bottle.

A unique origin story. An acclaimed independent bottler. Australian exclusivity. And a flavour profile that punches well above its weight.

Once it’s gone from our allocation, that’s the adventure over.

🌊 Grab your bottle of Compagnie des Indes Pacifico before the rest of the Tribe beats you to it. Because the only thing better than discovering an incredible rum is knowing you got there before everyone else.

Our Tasting Notes:

Nose: Lovely candy notes in the nose. Everything from jubes to liquorice all sorts to Werther’s originals floating around the mix. All the while, sweet, evening jasmine notes waft amongst candied peel and marzipan.

Palate: Not quite as sweet as the nose suggests. Nice, understated fruit cake, dark chocolate and more aniseed notes as well. There’s also a buttery note floating around there somewhere.   All combined into a lush, though not cloying – mouthfeel.

Finish: The sweetness dries off quickly once the finish takes hold – those column stills making themselves known! Nice, medium length with salted caramel, dark espresso, and Dutch liquorice and is that a smidge of salty-plumb there as well… why yes!

This easy going, sipping rum at its finest. The blend of two amazingly different – yet connected by a common ocean – countries rums is interesting enough on its own to want to check it out! With a big cube of ice this is going to be a summer staple for me I think. I find the dosed rums really like the coldness and water the ice gives. Can also confirm 100% (thanks to a mates input two weekends ago) that this is a killer in a rum & coke.
