oReizinho Peter Holland Blend Cask Strength
Last year, many of you grabbed the standard 45% Peter Holland Blend from oReizinho and absolutely loved it. It was a fascinating glimpse into one of the world’s most under-the-radar rum regions: Madeira.
But what almost nobody got to try was the version that came before it. The version that wasn’t diluted. The version that was never meant for the masses. The version that only saw 700 bottles released worldwide. And somehow…Rum Tribe has secured just 22 bottles.

Miss this one and there’s a very good chance you’ll never see it again.
🏝️ NOT THE CARIBBEAN. NOT THE ORDINARY.
Most rum lovers can tell you about Jamaica, Barbados and Guyana. Far fewer have explored Madeira.
This tiny Portuguese island in the Atlantic is famous for its wine, but rum lovers in the know understand it’s also home to a unique Agricole tradition that has been passed down through generations. This rum carries Madeira’s Geographical Indication and is made exclusively from fresh sugar cane grown on the island.
This isn’t molasses rum. This is fresh sugar cane juice rum, crafted the old-school way and distilled in traditional copper pot stills.
🤝 THE PETER HOLLAND CONNECTION
For rum geeks, Peter Holland needs little introduction. One of the most respected rum writers and industry figures in the world, Peter personally worked with oReizinho founder Pedro Ferreira to select and blend stocks from the distillery’s ageing warehouses.
Most of that blend became the beloved 45% release many of you already know. But before the reduction…A tiny parcel of bottles was produced at full, glorious 57.3% cask strength.
That’s this bottle.

🥃 WHAT’S IT LIKE?
This isn’t a gentle porch sipper. This is a rum with broad shoulders.
The nose bursts from the glass with sweet fruit, ginger and a touch of salty coastal character. The palate is rich, oily and powerful, balancing juicy fruit with drying tannins and an intriguing matcha tea note that keeps pulling you back for another sip. Then comes a finish carrying a sweet, almost smoky character that dances alongside the fruit.
Think of it as the original 45% release after spending a year in the gym. Same DNA. More intensity. More texture. More everything.
⚠️ FAIR WARNING
There are plenty of great rums in the world. There are very few that combine:
- A tiny production run
- Cask strength bottling
- A respected rum-world collaboration
- An obscure rum-producing region
- Genuine Australian exclusivity
All in the same bottle. When these 22 bottles are gone, they’re gone.
🥃 MEMBERS EXTRA: oReizinho Peter Holland Blend Cask Strength
Madeira. Agricole. Cask Strength. Ridiculously Rare.
Grab yours before somebody else does. 22 bottles. That’s all we’ve got.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Big, sweet fruity rush with some ginger, but then it quickly shows it’s dry side with some tannins emerging, there’s also a hint of saltyness that makes itself known
Palate: Big, oily, sweet fruity rush with some ginger, but then it quickly shows it’s dry side with some tannins emerging. There’s a definite matcha tea note that I’ve never encountered before there as well.
Finish: An almost smoky flavour on the finish – quite unlike peaty smoke in whisky (more sweet, less musty) – which dances very well with the sweet fruity notes.
If you liked the oReizino we featured in 2025, you’ll LOVE this one. Same overall flavour profile (I went and checked with the ‘original’) – but with much broader shoulders. The cask strength ABV really gives this one more depth and a bigger mouthfeel compared to the (lovely) 45%’er. It’s too good to mix. Maybe a cube of ice – if it’s really hot out!
About oReizinho
The Florentino Izildo Gouveia Ferreira distillery, better known as “O Reizinho” (meaning “the little king”), is a family-run operation located in Gaula, in the southeast of Madeira. Established in 1982, it began as a small local mill pressing sugarcane for friends and family before evolving into a renowned rum distillery with international recognition.
At Reizinho, all rums are distilled in a traditional Portuguese alambique (pot still). After distillation, the rum rests in a 10,000L stainless steel tank for six months before being bottled or aged.
