After the huge response to January’s pre-mix RUM’s, this month we continue the quality easy-to-drink (ETD) theme with a 12 pack of Island Coast pre-mixed cans…all made from award winning spirits (Silver Medal Rum, Gold medal Vodka), all with low sugar and all exceptionally tasty!

The range consists of 3 varieties…a rum, lime and clear cola (yep – it’s transparent! – except for the colour from the rum and the lime), and a couple of World Vodka Awards Gold Medal winning Vodka based mixers – Lime and Ginger and Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey and Ginger.

Before we go any further let me stress these are not over-sweet ‘alco-pops’ based on cheap bulk-produced neutral spirit. Not only are they made from medal-winning rum (Silver, Australian Rum Awards) and vodka (Gold Medal, World Vodka Awards), they are specifically formulated as low-sugar drinks. And they are even gluten free!

In other words – these are grown up drinks that are designed to complement the superb base spirit, not mask it!

All three are minimally carbonated (light on the fizz so you can slam ‘em down fast… in another time perhaps). All three are exactly 1 standard drink so you can keep track of your consumption (you responsible drinker you!) simply by looking at the stack of crushed empties on the floor around your chair! All three are seriously easy, and refreshing, drinking.

Look, we’re as lazy as you are when it comes to weekends slouching around a lunch-table or BBQ. We really mean to make some simple cocktails– but it sometimes all just gets a bit hard and you need a little help in the ‘I need a drink and I need it NOW!’ department. The Rum Tribe has spoken with their wallets – many are just as lazy as ME! J

The long-suffering missus and I have given these Island Coast pre-mixes extensive and thorough testing both in and out of the pool. They perform equally well at picnics, BBQ’s and any social occasion where effort is not invited! Of course, they do have some down-sides (nothing is perfect anymore, is it?) – mainly the number of cans your friends will beg, bludge or outright pinch from your esky once they realise what you’re onto.
